OUR FOUNDATION

Our Beliefs

At the center of our faith is the person of Jesus Christ, whom we believe to be the ultimate expression of God’s love and the very heart of the human story. We believe that Jesus is both fully divine and fully human—the Word made flesh who came to live among us, showing us exactly what God’s character looks like in action. Our faith affirms, "We believe in Jesus Christ, truly God and truly man, in whom the divine and human natures were perfectly and inseparably united." He is not just a great teacher or a historical figure to us; he is our Savior and our Lord, whose life, death, and resurrection bridge the gap between humanity and the Divine. Through his teachings, we learn how to love our neighbors; through his sacrifice, we receive the gift of grace; and through his rising, we find the promise of new life. In every sermon we preach and every hand we extend in service, we strive to follow his example of radical hospitality and unconditional love.

At the heart of our community is a deep, abiding love for the Holy Scriptures, which we view as the primary authority for our faith and the ultimate guide for our daily lives. We believe that the Bible is a living word, inspired by God and containing everything necessary for us to find salvation and wholeness. We align our hearts with the foundational standards of our church, and confess that Holy Scripture contains all things necessary to salvation. This means that while we value the gifts of human reason, the weight of historical tradition, and the power of our personal experiences, we always bring them back to the light of the Bible as our source of truth. Lastly, we don't just study these ancient texts as history, but engage with them as a community seeking to live out Christ's loving message of grace, justice, and transformational love in everything we do.

At the heart of our worship is the mystery and beauty of the Holy Trinity—one God experienced in three persons. We believe in the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit as a perfect community of love that invites us into a deeper relationship with the Divine. For us, this means we see God as the eternal Creator who brought the world into being, the Son who walked among us as Jesus Christ to show us the way of grace, and the Holy Spirit who breathes life into our hearts and sustains us today. We believe these three are of one substance, power, and eternity, working together in perfect unity. This isn't just a complex doctrine to us; it is a beautiful reminder that God is inherently relational, always reaching out to us with a love that is both ancient and ever-new.

We believe that the salvation and redemption offered through Jesus Christ are the ultimate gifts of God’s grace, bridging the gap between our human imperfection and God’s perfect love. At the heart of our faith is the conviction that Jesus Christ willingly gave his life, dying for our sins on the cross, to offer us a way back to wholeness and a right relationship with our Creator. This sacrifice was not just a historical event, but a transformational act of love that delivers us from the power of sin and death. Through his resurrection, we find the promise of new life, proving that God’s mercy is stronger than any mistake we could ever make. We believe that salvation is a free gift—one we don't have to earn, but simply receive with a heart of faith—inviting us into a lifelong journey of healing, renewal, and empowerment to share that same grace with the world.

We believe that our life with God is a lifelong journey of grace, a beautiful process where God’s love meets us exactly where we are and leads us toward wholeness. For us, grace isn't just a one-time event—it is the very air we breathe, guiding us from our first breath to our final home as we strive to grow more like Christ every single day.

At East Lake Church, our mission is lived out through four core pillars that guide every believer’s journey. It begins with the call to Connect, where we build meaningful relationships with God, the church body, and the people in our community. From that foundation of belonging, we encourage you to Grow by discovering the unique strengths of your purposeful design and deepening your spiritual walk. This personal growth naturally overflows into a heart to Serve, as you use your God-given gifts to make a tangible difference in the lives of others. Finally, we are called to Go, taking the hope we’ve found into the world to share our faith and make disciples of those around us.

Belong | Believe | Become

...

At East Lake Church, we see these three values as the heartbeat of our life together as followers of Jesus Christ. We believe that no matter who you are or what your story holds, you truly belong here, and we welcome you with open arms exactly as you are. Together, we celebrate the inherent worth of every individual and the life-changing message of Jesus that we believe is the foundation of our faith. Lastly, we are a community dedicated to walking side-by-side, supporting one another in our collective pursuit to become the people God uniquely created and called us to be.
